Wear your dress as a skirt
Is it a dress, a skirt? No, it is Gucci girl.
I am forever channeling my inner 8 year old self. Take us back to the days where the only worry in the world was not missing a cartoon, pretending you ate your vegetables or sneaking lollies into my frozen coke.
Today: when my dress was also a skirt. Wear your slip dress with a t-shirt over the top. Be sure to tighten the t-shirt around the waist to give a little more shape.

The 7 Summer trends I am wearing
Lets get trendy.
I am not the usual suspect of ‘only’ wearing things on trend. I still have wooden clogs, knitted flares and light pink 70’s sunglasses in my wardrobe, so you could say that I like to pair my old-school favourites back with newbies. I however went into Westfield Warringah Mall (AKA my local), and found some goodies. And by goodies, I mean the trends I am fond of and have been wearing this Summer.
Watch the video folks. My favourite trends and even my new favourite vintage furniture is on show. Go, go, go.

Weekdays in Margiela and Prada
If you spend time scrolling online stores I am sure you have noticed that red is the colour of the season. A few years ago, I wouldn’t have been caught in it, but in the last few weeks I have bought a red patent leather skirt and heels so I have proved my old red-hater-self wrong. Wear red in a full colour block outfit (as in all red everything), or add a touch like I have today with my Prada heels.
Meet my heels, the bright red pair of wonders I have wanted to buy for a while now. Does anybody else contemplate for far too long as well? Being the low heels they are, I wear them day or night. I found these lucky ladies on YOOX. (AKA the site that I seem to find all the last season pieces I – finally – want, at a reduced price. Enter extremely excited emoji face here). When buying the Prada’s, I couldn’t help myself, and bought this pinstripe Maison Margiela jacket as well. Well, it is a staple right? My moto: you can never have too many staples. I am sure my husband is not so fond of this moto. He is constantly listening to me justifying my purchases. “Well, if I am getting two pieces on sale and they are less than what one piece would be at full price, then I must buy both right?” Yes, YOOX. You get me every time!
If you want to buy any pieces from the site, use my 20% off code ‘BROOKE20.’ Thank me later.

Unusual Layering
When it comes to fashion, winter is my favourite season. I wouldn’t say it is my favourite season in general, there are times where I refuse to go outside, when I am on the lower east side of New York and the polar vortex graces us with its presence.
Winter fashion melts my heart because of one thing: layering. I layer almost everything. You will always see me layer a turtle neck under a shirt or dress, a t-shirt under a cami or dress, and even pants under dresses. The opportunities are endless people.
Yesterday, I was hanging in the Lover store at (my fav!) Strand Arcade, trying all their new Autumn/Winter 17 goodness. Time for summer to be gone. As much as I like the beach, I am a little over sweltering in this ‘hottest Summer’ since ……. forever.

It is a knit party
You know when the hot sweltering Summer tempretures start to die down, and you can finally wear more than a cotton dress…..well it is that time baby!
Sydney, even though you have been awfully wet the past 7 days, I certainly like the fact that you are a bearable temp!
Wearing a knit dress in my favourite colour, back with extra pointy flats, exceptionally awesome earrings, and the sunglasses I never seem to leave the house without.

Flower Power
I know its quintessential to wear flowers in Spring/Summer, and to be quite honest I have never really been the type to wear flowers, BUT I have surprised myself and worn them quite a few times as of late. I think it is because the florals are quite subtle in colour, so they are not as overly feminine?
If I am wearing a floral piece, I either pair it back with a classic wardrobe staple, or an alternate shoe to toughen up the outfit a little (i.e. my biker boots). Nothing like a little flower power.

Lady in red
I came, I saw, I wore red again. Funny that. Instead of the usual red pump, or red lip, opt for a red print. Lucky Ellery knows how to nail the ‘almost’ unusual yet ultimately dreamy red print. May this silky number keep making my days (when I wear it) blissfully better.

Shop one of the seasons biggest trends
I must apologise for the lack of communication on here. I have been working on a project, I hope you will love as much as I do. But whilst I am here, lets talk about my love for velvet. I know that velvet is one of this seasons biggest trends right now, but I have been a huge fan of her since the 1990’s when my eyebrows were plucked way too thin and I wore platforms channelling my inner spice girl.
I know some of you are a little scared to wear the trend even your grandma loves, but if you check out the new velvet arrivals out there, I bet you will be wearing it before you gauge down next Saturdays brunch.
Today, wearing my favourite colour and texture rolled into one.

Dinner Party Attire
What makes a dinner like that even more fun? Dress up a little. Australians like to be casual, but that is why it is so much more fun when we dress up. Take it back to when our grandparents were young. Get in a dress, blow-dry your hair, wear that lipstick and play those records. Your grandparents will appreciate it.
